Acceptance

Acceptance Here is another post from contributor, Stephanie Carfrae. She is a Creative Writing Graduate; you can find her own blog at  www.stephcarfrae.blogspot.co.uk  and I think you will be inspired by Stephanie's  first video on YouTube    Yesterday I got a bit of news that could have shattered me into pieces but I understood that there was nothing I could do about it and I accepted it. That’s the big word here: Acceptance. Once you figure that there’s nothing you can do to stop some events coming and when it comes it’s easier to jump and accept. This is like bad things that happen in your life or life generally. No one can stop them from coming, and sometimes you’ll look back and see how much you’ve grown since said incident. Of course, this I not true of most things in life; you can change your route accordingly but for those you can do nothing about, don’t feel bad because everybody has been (or will be) in that position. And someone’s proba...

Healthy Living: Post-Holiday Pounds

Healthy Living: Post-Holiday Pounds Today's post is from contributor - Natasha Gelder. ;Natasha is a full time Literature student based in Leeds who is juggling the quests for higher education, money and rock hard abs. She believes exercising is a vital part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and should not be seen as a chore. As the holiday season creeps up on us, so do the pounds. Many of us will be jetting off to hot countries in order to take a break from our lives; we will be lounging around, soaking up the sun and indulging in local foods. Many of us will also drink a little more than we ordinarily would when we’re back at home. Due to the break in our diet and exercise regimes, it is normal to gain a few pounds whilst you are away, in fact, it is something which has become expected. I usually put a couple of pounds on myself due to water weight, (the ice cream probably doesn’t help either), but I usually manage to drop that excess weight within a week or two of return...

The past is not yours to change, the future is all that you have

The past is not yours to change, the future is all that you have Today we have another post from contributor, Stephanie Carfrae. She is a Creative Writing Graduate; you can find her own blog at  www.stephcarfrae.blogspot.co.uk  and I think you will be inspired by Stephanie's  first video on YouTube    Don’t pre-condition things just because that’s the way it turned out last time, don’t write it off this time. If it turned out badly, take a deep breath and try again. You never know what could happen in the future.  Remember the past is not yours to change, the future is all that you have to alter so don’t dwell on things you can do nothing about. Stay grounded. Don’t worry about the past; it’s gone. Don’t worry about the future; it hasn’t arrived. Just live for every second. No one knows what will happen in the next 5 seconds, let alone tomorrow.  Worry is just stress you don’t need. I understand why people go through bouts of it, b...

Healthy Living: This Heat is a Hindrance.

Healthy Living: This Heat is a Hindrance. Today's post is  from contributor - Natasha Gelder.  Natasha is a full time Literature student based in Leeds who is juggling the quests for higher education, money and rock hard abs. She believes exercising is a vital part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and should not be seen as a chore. As we are experiencing what is being hailed as the longest heat wave that Britain has seen in seven years, it is no surprise that people all over the country are abandoning their fitness regimes and are instead taking refuge in pub beer gardens. Hot weather is lovely when you’re on a nice relaxing beach holiday and have nothing to do but lounge around all day, but when you have to continue with your daily routine, which includes exercising, this heat just simply seems to be hindrance.  The weather may be beautiful but it sure is playing havoc with people’s ability to exercise. I typically tend to work out in the late morning as i...

Healthy Living: Alternatives To Gym Memberships

Healthy Living: Alternatives To Gym Memberships Today's post is  from contributor - Natasha Gelder.  Natasha is a full time Literature student based in Leeds who is juggling the quests for higher education, money and rock hard abs. She believes exercising is a vital part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and should not be seen as a chore. One excuse that people frequently use to justify not doing enough exercise is that they cannot afford a gym membership, yes gyms can be pricey and the money that goes towards your monthly membership may have a better use elsewhere, but there are plenty of alternatives that won’t break the bank and will help to keep you healthy. Pick up a skipping rope from your local supermarket, they are very cheap and do not require a lot of storage space. Providing that you are a healthy weight for your height, just ten minutes of skipping a day will provide you with enough cardiovascular activity to keep your heart healthy. Whilst you are ...

One Positive Thought Can Change Your Day

One Positive Thought Can Change Your Day Today we have another post from contributor, Stephanie Carfrae. She is a Creative Writing Graduate; you can find her own blog at  www.stephcarfrae.blogspot.co.uk  and I think you will be inspired by Stephanie's  first video on YouTube    How can anyone be sure they are seeing the same thing? I mean exactly the same. The light can shape things in different way and reflect back to us differently. Hang on, how do we even know the intensity of light that hits our eyes is the same as everybody else’s? We might see a bright light, while for others it’s duller. How do I know the air that I’m breathing today isn’t more toxic than the air yesterday? I watched a TED talk about what we find beautiful. It’s interesting because NO ONE IS THE SAME.  How can I ever know that reading this will inspire you to do something with your day? I can’t predict anything, and I can’t say that what worked for me will work for y...

Healthy Living: Growing Old, (and Fat), Together

Healthy Living: Growing Old, (and Fat), Together Today we have another post from contributor - Natasha Gelder.  Natasha is a full time Literature student based in Leeds who is juggling the quests for higher education, money and rock hard abs. She believes exercising is a vital part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and should not be seen as a chore. We all know what it is like when you're in a happy, loving relationship; you swap those hours in the gym for cosy nights in on the couch, those salads turn into meals out at fancy restaurants and evenings in cooking impressive dishes for your other half. It's all very romanticised and can seem like something out of a fairy tale; the Princess finds her Prince and lives happily ever after, feeding him chocolate and drinking wine. The part that we don't see on screen, however, is the Princess's rapidly expanding waistline; we don’t see those additional pounds that accompany such a blissful love life.  I don't know ...

You are worth so much more than you will ever know.

You are worth so much more than you will ever know. Today we have another post from contributor, Stephanie Carfrae. She is a Creative Writing Graduate; you can find her own blog at  www.stephcarfrae.blogspot.co.uk  and I think you will be inspired by Stephanie's first video on YouTube   Hard to believe isn’t it? It takes time, but if you believe in it enough it can change your day, or indeed your life. I used to think after all I had been through in my life, that I’d be in light at the end of the tunnel soon. But I’ve come to realise that I’ve got to keep clawing my way to get closer to the light for myself. Because I really deserve this. This is a key belief to have, to know you deserve it. Because of self-esteem issues it can seem like you’re not worthy of anything at times. But you are. You are worth so much more than you will ever know. And you too, deserve to see the light with the same velocity that I do. Although I may have been through more during ...

Staying Healthy - A Quick Tip For Motivation To Exercise

Staying Healthy - A Quick Tip For Motivation To Exercise Today we have the first post from our second new contributor - Natasha Gelder.  Natasha is a full time Literature student based in Leeds who is juggling the quests for higher education, money and rock hard abs. She believes exercising is a vital part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and should not be seen as a chore. I think you will enjoy her post and I know she is taking her own advice. Each night do you set your alarm an hour early, with the intention of having an early morning workout, but when the morning comes you opt for an extra hour in bed instead? Feeling guilty, you tell yourself that you’ll go when you leave the office, but by half past five the idea of skipping the gym and opting for a night curled up on the couch with a glass of wine and a movie seems much more appealing. In fact, you’ve had a hard day at work and cooking is the last thing you want to do, why not treat yourself to a Chinese takeaway? E...

Happiness Is What We Make It. The First One...

Happiness Is What We Make It. The First One... Today we have the first post from one of our new contributors, Stephanie Carfrae. Stephanie is a Creative Writing Graduate and you can find her own blog at  www.stephcarfrae.blogspot.co.uk Happiness is what we make it. A hard concept to grasp, but think about it this way: if you make yourself happy with life as it is right now, things can only get better. You don’t need to feel low about things not going your way; if you are happy those things will somehow transpire into existence. If you keep focusing on the things that are making you unhappy you are but welcoming in those emotions so that more of the same come. So while I may not have the best body, I don’t complain about it; I make the best out of the situation I’ve been given. I’m an active believer in YOLO (You Only Live Once). I know a lot of people say it and don’t know the true meaning of it but it is: taking a chance to change a life (your life/their life/whoever’s lif...
