Thinking about the D-day anniversary later this week has led me to think about my parents’ generation; the people who lived through the Second World War.   We tend to remember the heroic! Many, of course, were not heroic in the way we usually think about heroes.  But, ordinary people, I suspect on all sides, were stoic and what mattered most was getting through. Many did get through very hard times. For them, personal happiness was secondary: what mattered was to do your duty. Times have changed! Not least because the generation that got through that war wanted better for their children. They wanted their kids to be happy. Finding Comfort

Finding Comfort Wendy Mason  is a Career Coach and Life Coach helping you to solve difficult problems at work and at home. Do you need comfort? Try some of these! Kiss your husband/wife or partner or give your best friend a hug – tell them you love them. Cuddle a baby – touch base with the young mother in your circle and share some time with her and the little one. Take your dog for a walk or play with the cat. Animals are great non-judgemental company! Call your Mum or a friend you haven’t seen for a long time! Weed your garden. If you don’t have one, find out about local community gardens and join in. Going back to the earth is a great way to touch base with yourself. Go on a walk through the woods and experience the smells and sights around you. Take lots of pictures and share your walk on Facebook Sit in the park and people-watch then find a little cafe and have tea/coffee and cak...

Those Days When You Wish You Had Stayed In bed Sometimes I think everyone has an allotted  share of happy times and unhappy times.  In reality we all seem to get a mixture. There are times in our lives when most, if not all, of life seems to be going well; we feel fit, we have someone to love who loves us back, we have work to that satisfies us and enough money to do the things that really matter to us. And on top of all that, when we got up this morning, the sun was shining and the birds were singing as we left the house. Then of course there are those other times. Some important part of life is to greater or a lesser extent not going well and on top of all that we woke up to storm clouds and torrential rain. As if that wasn't enough, there are days when we simply should have stayed in bed. From that first trip to the bathroom when we fell over the cat, things have gone wrong.
